HISTORY
In the year 1994 a major and well established petroleum giant approached us for a lighting pole that could survive the hostile environment beneath their cooling tower. IDS Composites pioneered the use of FRE and aluminum as lighting pole materials. As a result of this pioneering effort the first batch of 3meter height lighting pole system consisting of FRE pole and marine grade aluminum bracket was shipped and installed in the year 1996. More than 12 years have passed and this first installation has proved to be hugely successful. In an area where steel poles could not survive for more than a year, our lighting pole system has not only outlasted but also not called for any maintenance or replacement since it was installed.
IDS Composites jumped at the opportunity and did not look back. We then produced a 6mtr pole for a retail outlet, then a 9mtr pole for a marine terminal and then an 11mtr pole for a petrochemical giant. In 2005 we commissioned the first 16mtr aluminum high mast. Today we are in a position to offer 20mtr masts for cyclonic duty applications.
BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE
Every year several thousand crore rupee is lost due to wrong choice of material or poor maintenance. Examples of products that suffer are lighting poles, cable trays and gratings. Our objective is to correctly assess and meet the requirements of the user. A second objective is to create awareness among people that alternatives to steel based lighting poles; cable trays and gratings are available at an affordable price. |

THE SEVERAL FIRSTS
IDS Composites has to its credit the following achievements:
- Specified and sold for the first time in the Indian T&D history an electrical conduit on the basis of its heat dissipation characteristics. Client: Tata Electric Company, Mumbai; 220kV Ring Project.
- Specified and sold alpole for the first time in India a fiberglass reinforced epoxy lighting pole. Client: Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Haldia Refinery.
- Specified and sold alpole for the first time in India an FRE lighting pole for super cyclone (260kmph) application. Client: Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Paradeep.
- Successfully designed and produced an aluminum lighting pole for street lighting application. Client: Airports Authority of India, Kolkata.
- Introduced high performance phenolic cable tray and conduits for fireproof applications. Client: Ennore Port Coal Handling; Indian Oil Corporation, HQ.
- Introduced high performance FRP rebars for construction industry. Client: Ispat Industries Ltd., Pen, Dolvi.
- Specified and sold alpole for the first time in India a marine grade aluminum 16mtr mast. Client: Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., KDO.
